The Rugby Victoria Centre of Excellence establishes a new home for rugby’s elite pathway programs within the La Trobe Sports Park in Bundoora, contributing to the vision for a world-class, regionally significant sports and recreation precinct.
Set within the 33-hectare Sports Park, the project brings together high-performance training, athlete development, administration and community facilities within a cohesive sporting environment. The design responds to the broader campus setting, creating a strong connection between the training fields, support facilities and public realm while establishing a distinct identity for Rugby Victoria.
The Centre is conceived as more than a high-performance facility. It provides an integrated environment for athletes, coaches, officials and the community, supporting the development of emerging talent and creating a clear pathway from participation through to elite competition.
The facility incorporates three elite-level rugby pitches supported by strength and conditioning, sports science and medical facilities, as well as gender-neutral and all-abilities change facilities. Administrative accommodation, function spaces and match-day facilities complete the Centre, enabling the precinct to support training, competition and events throughout the year.
Through the consolidation of these functions, the project strengthens La Trobe Sports Park as a destination for elite and community sport, while creating an adaptable and inclusive home for the future of rugby in Victoria.
