Set within the idyllic surroundings of the remnant forest through the H.E Parker Reserve down to Dandenong Creek in Heathmont, The Maroondah Nets is a new purpose built indoor court facility for the City of Maroondah.
The architectural design is focused around softening the overall impact of what is a very large indoor court facility in a setting dominated by the forest that weaves its way through the reserve. The design does this using the play of light and shadow from the surrounding forests and focused openings looking out into the reserve that act to break the overall facility down with transparency and the use of large mass timber structure.
The facility provides a benchmark indoor court facility to the outer eastern suburbs supporting the growing rate of sport participation and involvement and the home for Netball in Maroondah.
The facility includes 4No. indoor multi-purpose courts, seating to accommodate at least 500 spectators, Indoor gym, function rooms, 4No. outdoor multi-purpose courts as well as the associated support facilities to host sub regional competitions.
The proposed facility also includes office space for sporting associations, multi-purpose community rooms and dedicated gym and fitness spaces with direct access to change rooms and cafe areas.
